TOURISM IN SIKKIM

SIKKIM - THE LAND OF PEACE AND TRANQUILITY                                 Tourism in Sikkim gained popularity during the past decade with an increasing number of tourists visiting the hilly regions for its natural beauty. Last two decades, tourism has a major boost in the state with close to a million tourists visiting Sikkim every year.

 There are different ways to reach Sikkim ::

1.BAGDOGRA ( 120 kms from Gangtok) is major airport region.

2.Major railways to travel are Jalpaiguri rail station and Silliguri .

Also roadway is also a easy way to travel in Sikkim.

TOURIST DESTINATIONS

1. GANGTOK (Capital) is a most important town .It lies on a ridge with fine views of the Kanchenjunga. This is the most common tourist places.There are different lakes like Tsomgo Lake, with beautiful view points and waterfalls like Seven sister waterfalls and Tashi view Point. Also it is famous for Nathula Pass . Also various monasteries like Phodong Monastery. There is also a very famous temple Baba Harbhajan singh memorial temple, it is dedicated to the memory of Harbhajan Singh,a soldier martyred in Sino war. His legend is also believed to have supernatural powers and his Ghost is believed to guard soldiers along the border.

 2. PELLING :: It is a small town on the foot hills of Mount Kanchenjunga.Ravalanga 

is a small township park with glorious forests of rhododendrons flourish promisingly on the slopes and dashing orchid colour of the land with their vibrancy. Beautiful views of the Kanchenjunga hills can also be gazed upon from this town.The BUDDHA PARK  here is also a very good and scenoc place to visit.

 Also there are Kachenjuna National park,Khecheopalri lake,Sewaro rock garden,Tashiding Monastery, Kanchenjunga and Rimbi waterfalls.

 THERE ARE ALSO MANY BEAUTIFUL SCENIC  LAKES,  WATERFALLS, MONASTERIES, WILDLIFE WITH VIVID MOUNTAIN VIEWS .
